In another word, confidentiality means keeping users information private and not to release it even to authori sed person unless it is necessary. Each individual’s privacy and confidentiality should be respected. 4. 2 Demonstrate confidentiality in day-to-day communication, in line with agreed ways of working Every carer should need to maintain confidentiality for each individual service user of his personal, social, physical, or financial maters including observations, record sheet, risk assessments, and reports. Every setting should have a written policy, which describes how confidential information should be documented, stored, and handled. All staff should be familiar with this policy, which should cover all of the specific types of confidential information kept at the setting. 4. 3 Describe situations where information normally considered confidential might need to be passed on There are situations when confidential information needs to be passed on. Parents should always be informed if their child’s information needs to be passed on, unless there is a safety risk to the child. 4. 4 Explain how and when to seek advice about confidentiality In a situation like abuse, accident or an emergency situation with a child, the line manager should be informed and asked for advice. In other cases like those that I mentioned above, a care worker should discuss with their supervisor confidentially and ask for advice.
