Importing Goods and Products from China Before the 1760s, everyone made goods and products by hand. The Industrial Revolution was from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century. During the Industrial Revolution there were machines that were making the goods and products faster than doing it by hand. There was little importing because mainly everything was made in the United States. In the 19th century, after a long period of isolationism, China and Japan came under pressure from the West to open to foreign trade and relations. During the Industrial Revolution every country was changing and making railroad tracks, factories, trains except China and Japan. So the Western nations forced an unequal treaty on Japan and China so they have to open their ports and cities to foreign merchants. China welcomed foreign trade but western merchants had no privileges there and were confined to Canton where they could only deal with the Co-Hong. China refused to yield to Western powers while Japan did not. China maintained isolationist ten dencies with limited commerce with the West. In the end, China signed the Treaty of Nanking however they signed the treaty after heavy military losses and under much more unfavorable terms. Fences by August Wilson tells the story of a black family in the 1950’s and the dramatic events they have had to overcome as a result of racism. The theme of racism shapes each character in the play, aiding each of the characters in becoming who they are. The main character, Troy, is portrayed as a stereotypical black man during that time. The way he behaves is a reaction of the harsh racism of the era, racism that has negatively impacted the people he cares the most about. He was in his early 50s at the beginning of the play and had already gone through a lifetime suffering which gave him an unpleasant demeanor. Listed below are some ideas that will help eliminate the problem of cigarette smoke ruining many meals in restaurants. In the past few years some public places have established their facilities as non-smoking out of respect of the customers health and enjoyment. Some examples are public transportation and public federal buildings. The customer respect issue regarding smoking needs to be adopted by all restaurants to avoid the nuisance of stale tobacco smells and tastes. Once solution to eliminate this problem is to create all restaurants as non-smoking. A second idea is to require all restaurants to install air purifier/cleaners. Non- smoking restaurants, enclosed smoking sections and required air purifier/cleaners offer different ways to eliminate dining in a smokey restaurant. Creating restaurants as non-smoking would avoid the problem of nicotine odors ruining many meals. The Onion, located in downtown Spokane, requires that all smoking be done in the bar area. The bar is separated from the main restaurant by a gate. I ate lunch at this restaurant, and while I was there smoke from the bar drifted to my table and spoiled my lunch. The non- smoking policy is catching on in various public places and restaurants taking on the same policy would solve this problem of spoiled meals caused by cigarette smoke. I am a fan of this show for many reason, from the characters to each theme of each episode. This show purpose is to follow the lives of the foster family throughout each blended theme from each episode. This show is relatable in many way because each character of the foster family deals with the adversity of everyday social norms. The Fosters is my favorite Television show because of how it portrays issues and social problems going on in our society and the way it teaches life lessons. First, I watch The Fosters because I enjoy watching each character. The main characters of the Foster family consist of Stef, Callie, Branden, Mariana, Jude, Jesus, and Lena. Stef is a police officer with Mike,which they used to be partners till they had issues and got separated from their job. Lena is a High school assistant principal, which is the high school all their children go to. The roles of each character consist of, Stef Foster (Mom),Lena Adams/Foster (Mom), Jesus Foster ( Adopted twin brother), Marina Foster (Adopted twin sister), Brandon Foster (Stef's son), Callie Jacob (Foster Sister, Jude's sister), Jude Jacob/Foster (Adopted, Callie's brother), Mike Foster (Divorced Stef, Brandon's father), and Anna Gutierrez (Mariana Jesus's biological mom). Additionally, the blended themes of The Fosters are interesting. The show is interesting because of how the purpose of the show follow the lives of the foster family. The show features a lesbian couple with a mix of biological, adopted, and fostered kids. The show follows the family's daily struggles from teenage kids to fostering new kids to mending broken relationships. Each theme however always has a life lesson or relatable in certain aspects. People who watch this show, I feel can learn a lot, especially teenagers. Finally, the characters from The Foster family deals with the adversity of everyday social norms. It is fun always watching this show because of how important it is. For example, This series deals with gay rights, feminism, first loves, how to come out to family and friends, how to follow your dreams, suicide, and mental illness. My personal favorite episode is called Lucky because, finally after all the false-starts and scheming and long-lost fathers and everything else, Callie is adopted by Stef and Lena. It is the moment that the entire show had been building toward up until that point, and it was so incredibly worth it. Also.The Fosters is a very relatable show. It proves that family is what really matters in this world and that every family looks super different from each other, but that's not a big deal at all. You might have a huge family with tons of siblings, you might be an only child, you might be living with some foster siblings, you might have two moms - it's all good . Everyone struggles the same way, everyone goes through times good and bad, and what your family looks like on the outside isn't the most important thing. No matter what episode you watch this show is worth the watch. For many reasons, The Fosters is my favorite television show. Our pronouns are increasingly inadequate. This is because there is no singular gender neutral pronoun. In academic writing, this can be problematic, so what should you do if you want to avoid using gendered pronouns in a paper? Why Are Gendered Pronouns a Problem? If we’re discussing a specific person whose gender is known, using â€Å"he† or â€Å"she† isn’t an issue. For example, if writing about Napoleon, it would be reasonable to discuss â€Å"his† funny hat.
