The Cause and Effect Test requires you to show not just the results you produced, but also the actions you took that led to those results. Letâs explore some of the reasons bullets fail the Cause and Effect Test. Cause and Effect Test Fail: Implemented cost optimization program for a major CPG company, successfully reducing costs by $8M in their raw material sourcing If your bullet is not focused on your individual contribution, it will fail the Cause and Effect Test. This candidate has highlighted the result of the project in this bullet â" the outcome of the entire teamâs effortsâ" not the result of her individual work. This makes it impossible for the reader to understand what she did and how it translated into impact. So even when the overall result was a team effort, you need to highlight your specific contribution and how it helped lead to the outcome. Here is another phrasing of this bullet that would fail the Cause and Effect Test. Cause and Effect Test Fail: Reduced client costs by $8M by modeling alternative sourcing scenarios That is because this bullet is overreaching. It is clear this candidate did not single-handedly produce the result of $8M in cost reduction because we all know that modeling does not itself directly reduce costs. That is nonetheless what the bullet implies. She was one component of a process involving many others that led to that result. An easy fix for this problem is to start the bullet not with the result, but with the action, and then connect it to the result. Cause and Effect Test Fail: Modeled alternative sourcing scenarios, leading to client cost reduction of $8M But this bullet still fails the Cause and Effect test because there is a link missing. How did we get from modeling to cost reduction? The bullet needs to draw a logical connection from actions all the way to results. Cause and Effect Test Pass: Modeled alternative sourcing scenarios and developed a strategic recommendation for CPG client that led to a cost optimization program which reduced client sourcing costs by $8M To pass the Cause and Effect Test, your bullets need to reveal your individual contribution and then clearly relate that to the ultimate result, while using language that acknowledges when that the outcome was not due to your single-handed efforts. Possible Causes for the Suicide of Kurt Cobain Essay
Possible Causes for the Suicide of Kurt Cobain Within this assignment I wish to look at the major issues and problems Kurt Cobain faced throughout childhood and into early adulthood. I wish to apply three relevant approaches to this article and hopefully show that they bare some resemblance to the problems he faced. Description of Article ====================== Within this article I wish to briefly look at some major factors of Kurt cobain, which influenced and affected his life and would later come to play a major role in his suicide. The major contributing factors I have found mostly stem from Kurts childhood. With psychological approaches like those of Freud and Bowlby I hope toâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Application to Article: As stated by Kurt in the article I have supplied, it is mentioned on a number of occasions that many of the demons or problems that Kurt faced throughout his childhood and on into his adult life, stemmed from his disrupted and unsettled childhood. When Kurt was seven years old, his parents divorced and he never fully recovered from this I never really felt loved or secure again. He became very withdrawn and angry and as stated in the article, Kurt was very anti-social and would vandalise the neighbouring areas of town by spray painting malicious comments such as God Is Gay on the walls of banks, cars and other property of the town, hoping to really hurt the community. I feel Kurt felt rejected on a number of issues and both his situation at home and his setting, in a very narrow minded community all added to his problems. In relation to Bowlbys theory I feel that Kurts delinquent behaviour and drug abuse stemmed primarily from the divorce of his parents. I somewhat believe that th is comes back to the Nature vs. Nurture argument and had Kurts parents not divorced, there is nothing to say that Kurt wouldnt of taken drugs and vandalised the town, given his own natural scripting. But I do feel that divorce played a major role in this individuals problems and IShow MoreRelatedKurt Donald Cobain : The Singer Of The Grunge Band Nirvana1635 Words à |à 7 PagesKurt Donald Cobain was an American musician most famous for his role as the lead singer of the grunge band Nirvana. The Skills of a Great Journalist Essay - 1239 Words
The stories in which journalists report, create conversations at dinner with family, or a topic at the pub with friends. Without journalism, what would we know? It is because of journalists we can know what is happening on the other side of the world, in the comfort of our living rooms. As journalists we are watchdogs for the public, we represent the absent, and answer all their questions. Journalists over time develop their skills of spotting what will make good news. Looking back at Levesonââ¬â¢s quote, he states that we are ââ¬Ëcritical witnesses to the eventsââ¬â¢. I question how we can be critical witnesses, if our audience do not completely believe what we are saying. I believe the News Intertational phone hacking scandal plays a role in our trust with the public. I soon developed the knowledge that news is written in short sentences and short paragraphs. Journalists use short sentences in order to make the news more readable to some of the public. However, sentences are becoming shorter than they used to be (Hicks, 2007, P63). Most news stories use the ââ¬Ëinverted pyramidââ¬â¢ to report stories. This means telling the most important information first, in order to grab your readers attention.
